Trados tests

Hello everyone,

I have been learning more and more about Trados and I had couples of webinars. I will be taking (the SDL Trados Studio 2017 for Translators - Getting Started) test where I have 3 attempts. It is 40 questions and I need to answer 30 correctly to pass the exam.
I really do not know what to expect and I was wondering if any one had that exam.

Hey, Fadwa ! I took the Trados tests for the 2014 and 2015 versions (all three levels each) and I have to say that, aside from some questions which can be tricky to answer, all in all the test is not difficult. I think three attempts are more than enough to pass and you have plenty of time to answer questions - and also to check your resources and to search for answers inside the software, if you keep those open during the test! Do ask specific questions if you have any ?

Fadwa Hi @Fadwa! I didn't take the test because I work mostly with MemoQ and even when I'm not, I try to convert everything into TMX and work with MemoQ. So I can't really share any tips on how to make the most out of your test, but as @eleonorang suggests: having their official resources open would probably help a bit.

Good luck with your test if you haven't taken it yet, and if you did, feel free to share your experience in this thread. I'm sure others will be curious to learn more ?

Fadwa - How did it go? I'm also a memoQ user... the tool is pretty straightforward. What are your plans with this certification? ?

I had the first attempt so far. I got 25 out of 40 and I need 30 correct answers. The first attempt was very useful I had a clearer idea about the test. I planning to go over the materials I have before I try again. Wish me luck

ClaudiaBefu I think i would like to have this one as an evidence that I have at least basic knowledge with Trados. I would like to keep learning more about the tools before I learn a new one. I am actually considering memoQ as the next software.

Fadwa Sounds good, it never hurts to learn a tool or two. ?

I really like memoQ, on one hand it#s very easy to use, but on the other hand it has a lot of cool features for those who want to go deeper into terminology management, project management, reporting... I will soon upgrade to memoQ Adriatic, the newest version. I will let you know how it went. ?

Translating is already making life difficult... Why do I have to pass a test for a tool?

ShouguangCao Hey, Dallas! You don't necessarily, but some clients appreciate seeing that you have a certification in that tool and, who knows, they may choose you over someone else because you do.

eleonorang Yes Eleon. I am sure it will help. Sorry to being grumpy:-) I just hate tests! Did too many when I was young!!
