I definitely need this.
I have had several offers from some well-known clients/agencies with whom I have never worked before (I am still figuring out how they got my contact: LinkedIn? other clients?). In such offers for long-term collaboration, they often ask my CV, rates, and availability. Each time I send the required info, I never hear from them again.

Could it be the rate? I have been wondering if asking $10 cents per source word is too much or too less. My present clients pay between 6 to 9 cents.

I generally charge in EUR, so I would charge €1 per page for proofreading and editing and between 0.10c and 0.13c per translation. I have had very little complaints about my pricing.

I guess the problem is somewhere else. The CV? Well, most of the emails always begin with: We have seen your work and would love to collaborate/have you on our team...) though none of them have ever told me where they saw my work despite me asking over and over.

Translation companies/agencies that you have worked with?

I wouldn't put pricing in my CV.
I would including the pricing in any email along with attached CV.

Well, maybe because I always refuse to provide the sample of my most recent work. Confidentiality.
I always discussed the reasons not to and they always see the point with me, so I thought!
Whatever, translation is a huge marketplace and new clients and opportunities will always knock our doors if we keep the standard and are good at what we are doing.

This is my first full year as a freelancer. I spent 15 years previous to that doing voluntary translation. I was about to give the whole thing up, when I registered with Proz.com and new life was injected into the job. The only thing the paperwork afterwards takes some getting used to!

What is your experience with Proz? Are you a paid member? I have been wondering whether buying membership with Proz is worth the hassle. If yes, I am considering Translatorcafe and Proz. Which to give a try?

Fadi give translators cafe a go first, before you consider www.proz.com.
www.proz.com has free membership, but free membership is not worth it. You would need paid membership to be noticed. I had to do that in May this year, even though I registered with them in April.

Thanks. I thought of that as well. I have been using the free membership of Proz for almost 4 years now, but I have never explored the benefits of buying a membership. I read some online reviews, very negative. But as you know, reviews are very biased and colored with personal good/bad experiences.
I give a thoughtful consideration to Translatorcafe.
