How would you react if a translation agency you already work with required you to sign an updated Service Agreement which states that the vendor (namely, you) must provide and maintain in effect an insurance for liability (at your own expense blah blah blah) and present the agency with a certificate of such insurance?
Is this business as usual for you, meaning that you were insurance covered since day 1 of your translation career? Or do you find this just a bit odd, like I do?
I know that insurance is advisable for translators in general and for those who deal with sensitive texts in particular, but it had never happened to me before to be obligated by a written agreement to have one, in order to continue working with a company.
